From what I hear a trip to the emergency room is inevitable especially for parents with active boys. There’s always a chance of breaking a body part, which we dread every time Virj jumps off a chair or tries to reach something high up while standing on a table. But our visit to ER happened earlier than we expected and for an entirely different reason.
A week ago on a Saturday morning, Virj woke up with fever and continued to run high temperature (around 104 degrees Fahrenheit) throughout the day even with fever meds. We were concerned especially because it was the weekend and we knew we wouldn’t be able to see his doctor till Monday. So, after a lot of debate (well, Soam is an optimist and I’m not quite so
, we decide to take him to the emergency room in the Mills Peninsula hospital.
We got to see a doctor after waiting for 5 hours and Virj was diagnosed with ear infection, and prescribed antibiotics. He has recovered nicely but I know I’ll re-think before taking him to ER again. Soam was right after all, it’s awful waiting at the hospital with a sick baby. Better to switch to a pediatric clinic that is open 7 days a week!
I didn’t have the camera on me at the hospital but took a picture of Virj when we got home. He looked sick and frail but still had the energy to read his favorite book!
