Balancing Act

February went by fast trying to balance work and home. I started a new job last month after taking an 8-month long break to take care of my son. Well, it wasn’t really a break per se and I was trilled to be back at work. But unfortunately, things change once there’s a baby in the picture. I often have to alter my schedule to fit my son’s needs. However, my somewhat flexible work schedule and the option to telecommute, has helped with the transition. My son, Virj, has coped well with the change. This was confirmed at his 15-month check-up, when his doctor was very happy with his progress!

At work things have been pretty hectic from the get-go — I’m doing Marketing/PR for a non-profit in San Francisco and spent a lot of time last month figuring out ways to integrate various email marketing programs/tools in order to launch a successful email campaign. I ended up using Vertical Response especially because they provide 10,000 free monthly emails to non-profits. However, I was not impressed by their AppExchange with Sales Force, which kept giving me errors when I tried transferring data. But without going into more technical details, I would say I faced some challenges at work and essentially had to hit the ground running. Hopefully this month will be better as I settle down into a rhythm both at work and home!
